Great talent was in no short supply during the season 11 premiere of 'American Idol' last night. But a 20-year-old with the unlikely name of Phillip Phillips may have given the best audition of all during tryouts in Savannah, Georgia.

Phillips, a Georgia native who works in his dad's pawn shop, first growled his way through Stevie Wonder's 'Superstition.' Then, he rocked out an acoustic jam of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' that completely wowed the judges (and us). Who would have thought 'Thriller' would sound great with a crunchy-hippie vibe?

Watch Phillips' performance below and tell us your opinion. Does he have what it takes to be the next American Idol?
