Beauty is win deep.

A three-year-old 125-pound Neapolitan Mastiff named Martha has the (good?) fortune of being named the World's Ugliest Dog at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, Calif. last Friday.

For her efforts, Martha picks up a check for $1,500 and the chance to go to New York City for publicity appearances, although we're betting her owner, Shirley Zindler, will be the one handling the finances. After being crowned the winner, Zindler said, "I'd gloat, but I need a nap."

Zindler rescued Martha, who beat out of a field of a dozen other contestants, and says she had to undergo several surgeries to help restore her vision. She describes her Martha as a "gentle giant."

"The judges took into consideration first impressions, unusual attributes, personality, and the crowd's reaction when deciding the winners," reports USA Today.

Take a look at some of the other beasts Martha beat out in the name of hideousness.
