America's long national nightmare is about to end.

The high point of last night's episode of 'Saturday Night Live' (with guest host Jamie Foxx) was probably the Academy Award winner's portrayal of the not-so-popuar Hostess snack, Ding Dong.

A few days ago, we were hit with the horrific news that Twinkies could be goners. First bacon, now the spongy stuff. How can we not start to think this is the beginning of the end?!

When the US auto industry was in jeopardy four years ago President Obama stepped in with a bailout package. Now it's the American junk food industry that's in peril, with Hostess Brands closing up shop and heading for liquidation, and some want Obama to take an even more drastic step. Daniel B. of Kansas City has started a petition for the president to "Nationalize the Twinkie industry."

In the wake of the closing of Hostess, many are worried that they won't be able to get Twinkies, and driving the prices of the snack cakes up to absurd degrees on eBay. Good thing the recipe is easy to find, if you're not made of money.

Takeru Kobayashi may officially be banned from the sport of competitive eating, but that hasn't stopped him from setting world records. On 'The Wendy Williams Show,' Kobayashi set a record for consuming 14 Twinkies in one minute.

Last week we got some sad news. Hostess, the company that makes Twinkies, among other artificially-flavored treats, will declare bankruptcy. Taking it upon herself to preserve what she calls the "creamy goo that holds this country together" talk show host and sweet tooth Wendy Williams has launched a campaign to "Save the Twinkie."
