If you're anything like us, you probably dreamed about being a superhero when you were a kid. This video, which is courtesy of AsapSCIENCE, examines whether Spider-Man's powers are actually possible. Turns out, some of the webslinger's amazing abilities could exist in reality, but others are unlikely. Way to ruin our childhood fantasies, guys.

According to the video, Peter Parker's transformation could happen via a retrovirus and his resulting super strength might be possible with an increase of two specific proteins which affect muscle.

But, Spidey's ability to cling to walls would require permanently hairy hands and feet (ew!) and his "spider sense" would probably only work on things that are close by and not at a significant distance.

Still, we're not about to let this ruin our hopes of someday becoming a crimefighter. It could happen. We just know it.
