Fireworks Fail! San Diego’s July 4th Display Goes Off All at Once
While the rest of us were enjoying a lengthy 4th of July fireworks show last night, San Diego residents got completely robbed when their display went off all at once in a spectacular explosion that lasted a mere 15 seconds.
Advertised as one of the largest fireworks displays in the nation, the Port of San Diego's Big Bay Boom was meant to dazzle onlookers with an amazing show running 18 minutes long. Instead, a technical glitch caused all the fireworks to ignite at once, filling the sky with intense bursts of color and sound that were over before they began.
Needless to say, onlookers were startled by the brilliant explosions that lit up the sky. "Oh my God. Look at that. Is that supposed to happen?," asked one spectator, who captured the fireworks flub on YouTube. Others were miffed that they paid for admission. "I waited three hours in the cold and paid $12 for parking and got one little explosion?," one person Tweeted.
Garden State Fireworks, who produced the show, issued an apology. "[We] will be working throughout the night to determine what technical problem caused the entire show to be launched in about 15 seconds. We apologize for the brevity of the show and the technical difficulties," read a statement. Well, that's good to hear, but it's a little late now, yes?
