Winning an Olympic gold medal marks the culmination of years of hard work, often in obscurity. So when an athlete finishes first in an Olympic event one does expect a pretty emotional response to the achievement. German discus thrower Robert Harting took that emotion to the next level Tuesday at the London Games.

After scoring gold with a toss of 68.27 meters he ripped off his shirt, Incredible Hulk-style. Then he grabbed a German flag and started running around the track. Since hurdles had been set up for an event later in the day, the shirtless strongman showed off the depth of his Olympic talents and cleared the obstacles. Finally, Harting went into the stands to celebrate with his countrymen.

“It’s just amazing,” Harting said. “I’ve dreamed of this since I was 12-years-old.”
