Red Bull to Launch Dude at Earth From Space
Okay. We get it, Red Bull -- you're EXTREME. They've certainly proved that point with their historic mission, which should be taking place today if weather holds. A trained pilot will be going a record 120,000 feet above the surface of the earth in a balloon, and then he's going to jump out and fall towards the earth at supersonic speeds.
The project is called Stratos (since Felix Baumgartner will be falling towards us from the stratosphere) and will be streaming live on their YouTube station, starting at 1 p.m. EST. The hope is to provide research for the space program and also to remind everybody that Red Bull is the baddest energy drink around.
Be sure to tune in if you want to watch a guy willingly go up into space to fall 13 miles towards the earth. Maybe it will be good for your fear of falling. Or of watching streaming videos online.
Update: Unfortunately, the mission was aborted due to gusty winds. No doubt they were EXTREME gusty winds.
