Paul McCartney is one of the few singers in the world who could get both Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman to appear in one of his music videos. And appear the two A-listers did, using sign language to help convey the lyrics to McCartney's song 'My Valentine.'

It turns out, however, that Depp and Portman aren't as good with sign language as, say, the kids in this similarly themed video. Deaf music fans are starting to point out that Depp's sign for "Valentine" is actually the motion for "enemy." And if you think that's embarrassing, when Portman attempts the word "appear" she actually signs "tampon!"

"The sign for tampon does seem to come up from both Johnny and Natalie, which causes some confusion, especially as American and British sign languages are different," a spokesperson for the British Deaf Association said. "But it's still great. It's great that famous people such as Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman are highlighting the use of sign language."

Depp and Portman actually both have interesting music video histories, with Depp appearing as "Eddie Rebel" in the 1991 Tom Petty video 'Into the Great Wide Open' and Portman doing the Bollywood-thing in the video for then-boyfriend Devendra Banhart's 'Carmensita.' But both could stand to brush up on their sign language.
