Aside from drinking Coronas and margaritas, Saturday was the day hundreds of tiny Chihuahuas converged on Kansas City for the Cinco de Mayo Chihuahua parade in an attempt to break the world record for the most costumed dogs. (Apparently, that's a thing.) Sadly, the attempt fell short, but it nevertheless qualified as the most adorable fail ever.

About 500 dogs, 80 percent of which were Chihuahuas, showed up in costume, decked out as ballerinas, cowboys and tacos. Despite the large number of crazy-outfitted dogs, the parade failed to break the record by approximately 200 dogs.

"We are going to keep doing this until we run out of dogs in Kansas City and have to start shipping them in," said Mark Valentine, the president of the group that organized the event. "For a first try, we did okay."

Oddly, Guinness was on hand to observe the event and ensure that all registered dogs were in fact alive. According to Valentine, no dead dogs attended, but someone did try to sneak in a potbellied pig. The horror!
