In April, Ebony magazine published a handwritten note from Beyonce to Michelle Obama in which the singer expressed her admiration for the First Lady.

In the letter, Beyonce praises Michelle as "the ULTIMATE example of a truly strong African American woman." The Grammy-winning performer went on to write that, "I am proud to have my daughter grow up in the world where she has people like you to look up to."

Beyonce and the Obamas have been associated with each other since 2009, when the singer performed at the inauguration. Since then Beyonce has been seen at Obama fundraisers, and earlier this year Michelle took her daughters to see the pop singer perform live.

So it probably didn't take much for Beyonce to be convinced to make her touching note into a campaign ad for Obama 2012. Watch her read her kind words aloud below.

Celebrity endorsements are always tricky in politics, as some folks are turned off by the idea of an entertainer trying to influence their vote. Do you think this appeal from Beyonce works or hurts the Obama campaign?
