The inappropriate 911 call has long been a weird news staple. Confused citizens have used emergency services to report everything from a sandwich without enough mayo to a broken iPhone.

However, over the weekend, Mark Welch managed to take 911 abuse to a trippy new place. The 18 year old Florida man, who had been (unsurprisingly) smoking synthetic marijuana, became convinced that everything that was happening took place in his dream from the night before.

But instead of calling his shrink -- or,  perhaps, the Ghostbusters -- he contact the police through 911. Take a look at the transcript below.

911 Call-Taker: What's happening?
Mark Welch: Everything that happened today is actually in my dream, and I want to prove it to everybody.
911 Call-Taker: What did you dream about that’s happening?
Welch: It's all on paper. I wrote it down."

Worried about Welch's mental health, the dispatcher sent a deputy over to check on him. He was able to determine that Welch was just a little high but not in need of medical assistance, and left the teen with a warning that he can't call 911 again unless it's a genuine emergency. Sensing their son might not be able to follow this order, Welch's parents also took away his cell phone.

Nevertheless, 40 minutes later Welch went over to a neighbor's house and called 911 again.

This time he was arrested for misuse of the 911 system and taken in for a psychiatric evaluation. After completing it, he was released to his parents. We wonder if he had dreamt all this too?
