Enormous Sinkhole Makes Minced Meat of Japanese Street
First, Donald Trump becomes president and then the world starts caving in.
Like, really caving in.
A giant sinkhole opened up in a street in the Japanese city of Fukuoka on Tuesday. No one was injured, but power went out in the area. According to the AP, the sinkhole was "more than half the size of an Olympic pool."
It's unclear how the hole opened up, but authorities surmise it may have something to do with work being done on a local subway line. Another sinkhole opened in 2014 close to another spot where subway construction was taking place.
The hole was about 88 feet wide, 90 feet long and nearly 50 feet deep. Residents in the area were ushered away from the area.
Fukuoka's mayor said, "An accident like this is unheard of, one that should not have happened. We must prevent secondary accidents, and will do our utmost to restore important infrastructure."
