WPDH, in Poughkeepsie, NY, has put together this handy video explaining the proper way to remove a keychain from a LEGO minifigure -- and do so in a way without damaging the toy or affecting whatever value it may have (which is important because the minifigures, when part of a set, are fan favorites and fetch a lot of loot).

If you have access to a flame, then you should be able to pull off this trick.
