Heroic Passengers Subdue JetBlue Pilot After Mid-Flight Meltdown

A JetBlue flight from New York to Las Vegas took a scary turn on Tuesday when the pilot had a mid-flight meltdown and had to be physically restrained by passengers while the plane made an emergency landing.

According to reports, Capt. Clayton Osbon left the cockpit during the flight and began ranting incoherently about a bomb, al-Qaeda, Iraq and Afghanistan. He even urged passengers to start praying and allegedly shouted, "They're going to take us down!"

At that point, several passengers, including a retired NYPD sergeant, wrestled Osbon to the ground and restrained him until the flight with 131 people safely landed in Amarillo, Texas.

A statement from JetBlue claims the pilot had a "medical situation" and was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Meanwhile, the FBI, who currently has Osbon in custody, say the pilot suffered a panic attack and has no connection to terrorist groups.
