Eduard Khil’s ‘Trololo’ Finally Gets The Heavy Metal Treatment
When we last checked in on Eric Calderone, he was performing a blazing guitar version of the 'Game of Thrones' theme. For his latest effort the ax man is taking on internet favorite Eduard Khil's ‘I Am Glad, ‘Cause I’m Finally Returning Back Home,' which is better known as the 'Trololo' song.
According to Calderone, he has been getting requests for the tune for some time. Sadly, Khil passed away earlier this month at 77, and that motivated Calderone to finally do it. Check it out.
Reportedly, Khil's unique yodeling of 'trololo' in lieu of singing words was the result of a dispute between the song's composer and lyricist over whether music or lyrics were more important. As you can hear, 'I Am Glad, ‘Cause I’m Finally Returning Back Home' sounds pretty good without any vocals at all and just some epic guitar playing.
Calderone has been busy lately, also putting out all-guitar versions of 'Call Me Maybe' and Whitney Houston's 'I Will Always Love You.' You can check them out below. We've also included Khil's original version of 'I Am Glad, ‘Cause I’m Finally Returning Back Home' for comparison sake.
