Brave Girl Facing Brain Surgery Collects 4,000 Toys for Fellow Patients
You don't get much higher up on Santa's nice list than this girl.
Savannah Day, 14, led a toy drive as she prepped for brain surgery. The teen from Troutville, Virginia was set to undergo surgery in Cincinnati to treat part of her brain that is growing outside of her skull, causing a build-up of fluid.
When Savannah discovered she would have the procedure around the holiday season, she decided to spearhead a toy drive for kids who would also be at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Word quickly spread and they reeled in 4,000 toys, easily topping their goal of 500.
Savannah said her efforts are all done to help the other kids in the hospital, noting "I hope they know someone cares about them."
Savannah underwent successful surgery on Thursday. It's the 15th time she's had to go under the knife for her condition.
Here's hoping she gets better soon.
