The French have taken their land of lovers reputation to new, litigious heights after a judge ruled that a man must pay 10,000 Euros ($14,000) to his ex-wife to compensate for a lack of sex during the couple's 21-year marriage.

Jean-Louis B, as he is identified in court documents, claimed that "tiredness and health problems" prevented him from doing what he was supposed to do in the martial bed. But that excuse didn't sway the judge, who found Jean-Louis was in violation of article 215 of France's civil code, which states married couples must agree to a "shared communal life."

On the bright side, nobody can accuse Jean-Louis of being a worthless lover. In fact, he now has official legal conformation that his erotic compensation is worth $667 a year.
