Double Amputee With a Ton of Heart Plays High School Football
The next time you think you can't do something, think about Joe Martel III.
The freshman at Beggs High School, in Beggs, Okla, plays for the football team, even though he's a double amputee.
Joe, who was born without shin bones, had both legs amputated when he was 18 months old. Still, that hasn't stopped him from playing football (be on the lookout for some amazing video of him as a first-grader without prosthetics scoring a touchdown).
Joe has played on the JV and varsity squads this year, inspiring his teammates with his grit and determination. As his coach says, "I couldn't be prouder of him."
Joe has also embraced his role as an example for others, saying, "If I can do it, they can do it."
