Disney Princesses Make Girl’s Adoption Hearing a Hit
This five-year-old girl had some very special guests celebrate her adoption.
Danielle Koning was formally adopted by new parents recently during a hearing in Grand Rapids, Mich., but it was the presence of a bunch of Disney princesses that made it such a memorable day.
Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel, Elsa and Ariel all came in to the courtroom, the result of a brainstorm by Danielle's caseworker, who knew the little girl loves Disney.
Danielle's new mother, Sarah Koning, said her little girl was blown away. “She was shocked when the princesses first came in. She sure was,” Sarah said. "The look on her face was priceless."
The stunt was so well coordinated that even the judge took part, showing off a Snow White costume to Danielle.
Koning said going the extra mile for Danielle is something that is applicable for all children in her situation. "I think it’s really important to make that adoption day special for every kid in whatever capacity you can,” she said. “No matter what, if kids have been bounced around a lot, it really helps them to feel the permanency and know that they’re not going anywhere now. It’s really important for kids to feel that security."
