College Student Fakes Kidnapping to Get Out of Handing In Paper
Kids these days are taking the saying "the dog ate my homework" and completely chucking it out the window. Today's student needs a more up-to-date and convincing reason for missing an assignment, skipping class or failing to complete work. That's why this story of a college student who faked his own kidnapping is so fascinating.
22-year-old Brazilian college student Susan Paola Correia had a school paper due. Sadly, she knew she wasn't going to be able to hand it in on time, and instead of merely doing the assignment she decided to make up a story claiming she had been kidnapped and therefore was unable to hand in the paper.
Apparently, Susan didn't want to tell her mother she was having school problems. Officer Gilvandro Furtado was quoted as saying, "She did not want to upset her mother yet again as the same thing happened last term."
It was a horrifying situation... initially. Susan told the police that she was abducted by three men and held for a whole day until she miraculously was able to escape. In truth? She was spending the day at a friend's house. How lovely!
Was it worth it? Probably not. The police gave her a charge for making false accusations, which could potentially land her in jail for six months. Should've just done that paper, Susan!
