A 27-year-old California man narrowly survived a horrific shark attack while surfing 150 yards offshore in the waters off Marina State Beach on Saturday.

Eric Tarantino was surfing when he was suddenly attacked by the deadly predator and bitten in both the arm and neck. Amazingly, Tarantino was able to save himself by frantically paddling toward shore.

The surfer is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries. He's lucky, though. The maneater missed his jugular by mere inches, making a 19-inch gash in his board instead. That'll put a crimp on your wave catching. Watch a report on Tarantino's ordeal below.
