Base Jumping Newlyweds Take a Literal Plunge Together
Over the weekend, scores of base jumpers headed to Fayetteville, WV, to leap off the New River Bridge as part of an annual celebration known as Bridge Day. But one couple made their leap especially memorable by tying the knot first. Hey, who are we to judge? Stranger things have certainly happened at weddings before.
The couple, Patrick Steiner and Erika Terranova, had their wedding ceremony on a platform suspended from the bridge. And once the nuptials were complete, they took an 876-foot plunge toward the ground. Steiner flew solo while Terranova took a tandem jump.
According to Terranova, they decided to base jump because they thought it would be a great way to spend their wedding day.
"I've always wanted to base jump. So, this is how we're going to do it. We thought it would be a lot of fun," said the new bride.
We're sure it was, but we bet it freaked out the wedding guests just a tiny bit.
