Aly Raisman’s Parents Are the Breakout Stars of the London Olympics
Gymnast Aly Raisman was one of the big stories of the opening weekend of the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games. The 18-year old from Needham, Ma. qualified for the all-around title, knocking teammate, world champion and best friend Jordyn Wieber out of the competition that Wieber would have been the favorite in.
But the most entertaining part of Raisman's near flawless routine was her parents' reaction to it.
NBC's cameras caught Mr. and Mrs. Raisman quite literally squirming in their seats during the uneven bars portion of Aly's effort. Check out their reactions below.
Decked out in their official Ralph Lauren Olympic shirts and sounding very much from the Boston-area, you could feel in each of Lynn and Rick Raisman's awkward gyrations all the 5am gymnastic practices they drove their daughter to.
And then when she nailed the routine -- sweet release.
Aly will be going for the all-around gold medal later this week. Expect NBC to keep a camera trained on her uniquely emotive parents when she does.
