Authorities in Central Ohio have no idea why up to 3,000 pairs of panties were found on and around a road in Berne Township, 30 miles southeast of Columbus.

Some of the panties were still in their packaging, and others may have already been worn. The unmentionables, which came in a variety of colors and patterns, were tossed in four dumping locations along a one-mile stretch of the road.

"I came up and looked for myself and after I got here I couldn't believe what I was seeing," said Jim Carmichael, a Berne Township Trustee. "We're just looking at it like somebody has done this and we want to find out who done it." Learn more about this odd rash of littering below.
