Hooters Waitress Donates Kidney to Customer, Gets Ready for Best Tip Ever
He came for some wings and (maybe some breasts), but got a kidney, instead.
Well, not quite, but it fits in this story about a Hooters waitress who donated her kidney to a customer.
That’s probably the best customer service you’ll ever get.
Mariana Villareal, a waitress at a Hooters in Roswell, Ga., donated one of her kidneys to Don Thomas, a customer who’s frequented the eatery for years.
Amazingly, Villareal had only been on the job for a brief period and didn’t know Thomas that well when she offered to give her kidney to Thomas, who had lost both his kidneys due to cancer.
So, what spurred Villareal to make such a serious proposal? As it turns out, her grandmother recently died from kidney failure.
I wasn't able to do anything for my grandma. If [Don] can live two more years, happy as he's ever been, that's fine with me. That's not up to me. I did my part, now it's God's turn to keep him alive."
The surgery, which took place May 29, was a success and doctors say both Villareal and Thomas should be fine.
While it may sound like a remarkable act, Thomas says he and Villareal are nothing special. "Mariana and I are just two normal people," said Don, "one who needs help - me - and Mariana who is so willing to give help."
