Like all of Pixar’s films, Finding Nemo has a lot of references to other movies, past and present. If you look closely you can spot characters from The Incredibles, Toy Story and Cars, plus lots of other fun references from the Pixar team. This is just one of the facts packed into the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies, which just keeps swimming with Finding Nemo!

A lot of the credit for Finding Nemo’s success can be attributed to its fantastic voice cast. But, before Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres were cast, Pixar had two other actors in mind. William H. Macy originally recorded the voice for Marlin before director Andrew Stanton listened to it and realized it wasn’t working. And Megan Mullally was cast after Pixar producers saw her on Will & Grace, not realizing that Mullally doesn’t really talk like that in real life. They hired her anyway, but the actress didn’t want to replicate that voice and was eventually let go.

“You Think You Know Movies?” is a ScreenCrush original series that dives deep into the cinematic worlds of your favorite movies and freeze frames a few tidbits you might not have known. We’ve already tackled Star Wars, The Avengers and Spider-Man, but now, it’s time to head beyond the sea with Finding Nemo!
