Love is a fickle beast (particularly in Hollywood), and on the same day that NBA legend Michael Jordan announced his engagement to Cuban-born model Yvette Prieto, the split of intercontinental odd couple Katy Perry and Russell Brand after 14 months of marriage has been confirmed.

Brand released a statement saying,

Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”

According to sources, Jordan popped the question to Prieto, who he has lived with since 2009, over the Christmas holiday. “His Airness” paid his first wife, Juanita Vanoy, a whopping $168 million settlement when he divorced her in 2006, so he may be thinking prenup right about now.

Which of these end-of-year changes in celebrity marital status do you find most surprising? Take our poll below and let us know.
