Lady Gaga and Mayor Bloomberg’s Kiss Tops the 5 Romantic Moments of the New Year [PHOTOS, VIDEO]
While it may not have been romance per se, a sequin-covered Lady Gaga welcomed in the new year by macking on NYC's Mayor Bloomberg. It's fair to say we probably won't be seeing him in Gaga's next music video (as that's how her relationship with Taylor Kinney all started), other celebrity couples followed their example and celebrated New Year's with a little romance.
Mother Monster and New York's mayor may have seemed like an odd pairing, but perhaps no two living people personify the Big Apple more. So this is how it went down -- Bloomberg chose Gaga to help him bring down Times Square's iconic crystal ball at midnight, and she donned her bedazzled finest to do just that. As revelers cheered, the pair shared their quick kiss and danced together to Frank Sinatra's 'New York, New York.'
The 'American Idol' alum, 22, and longtime girlfriend Heidi Lowe tied the knot Saturday night in California's Santa Cruz Mountains. The couple, who have a young son together, said the wedding was "the perfect way to kick off the New Year," and added, "We are looking forward to living happily ever after."
The 'Real Housewives' star -- who became a tabloid darling after her former husband Eddie Cibrian dumped her for LeAnn Rimes -- had a quick, Las Vegas weekend wedding to Mixed Martial Arts manager Darin Harvey. But like many impetuous Sin City unions, it doesn't look like this one will have much of a shelf-life: both newlyweds called it "a drunken BFF thing" and said they'll have it annulled, striking another blow to the supposed sanctity of marriage.
The Yankees slugger and 'Charlie's Angels' actress quietly dated for three years before splitting last August, but it looks like things might be back on. The two vacationed in Paris over the holiday weekend and were spotted together at many of the city's tourist attractions, with one witness saying, "They looked much in love."
During a party celebrating both New Year's Eve and James' 27th birthday, the Miami Heat star surprised his high school sweetheart -- and the mother of his two children -- by popping the question in front of about 50 teammates and close friends. After she accepted, James said, "I feel good. It's a good point in my life right now... She's happy, my family's happy, and that's what it's about."
