‘Community’ Gets the Classic Video Game Treatment
If you're a fan of NBC's 'Community,' you've probably spent more time lobbying the network to keep the quirky program on the air than you have actually watching it. Fortunately, fans can breathe a temporary sigh of relief because the Peacock renewed the series for one more season. How will THIS season finish up? With three episodes over one night, the first of which taking place in a 16-bit video game world.
Details are still vague about how or why the crew ends up as avatars in a virtual environment, but their goal is to win back Pierce's inheritance. From the looks of the screengrabs obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, the characters appear to be spot on, though we don't recognize the little guy and the busty maiden.
The show's garnered a reputation for thinking outside the box, producing episodes that go beyond the traditional format. That unique approach has been a breath of fresh air, one we hope isn't extinguished after next season's 13-episode run.
Community’s season finale night starts Thursday at 8 p.m. and then continues after the '30 Rock' finale with episodes at 9 and 9:30 p.m. on NBC. Now, if NBC was smart, they'd release a playable version of the 'Community' video game immediately.
