After New Line's live-action 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie grossed more than $200 million worldwide, the heroes in a half-shell were guaranteed a sequel. That came just a year later in 1991 in the form of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze.' This turtle-powered action movie didn't fare as well at the box office, but was nonetheless beloved by kids that couldn't get enough of these pizza-loving crime fighters.
With 'Don Jon' hitting theaters, Joseph Gordon-Levitt can officially add "writer/director" to his many-feathered cap. You probably know that he started out as a child actor, but do you know what his first commercial gig was or what film took his family to Africa...
You know "the look." The famous Taylor Swift face she made for many years while winning award after award at major music award shows. That's just one of the many varied looks the singer and actress has provided fans since she debuted in 2006.
Whether you were high born or low, you know the rules of the ‘Game of Thrones’ meant you win or die. This gave most of life’s lessons a pretty Valyrian steel sharp learning curve. Still, as a child of the long summer, it wasn’t all bad. Here’s how you know you belonged in Westeros.
A few months back I was shocked to discover a good friend of mine had never seen ‘Game of Thrones.’ While there are plenty of powerful selling points for the widely acclaimed series, I went with, "Dude! It's like ‘Lord of the Rings’ with boobs!" And it worked. But as I shrieked over the horrible, soul-shattering events of the Red Wedding, I began to worry I hadn’t properly prepared my pal for the show’s high death toll drawbacks.
We get it -- Johnny Depp can put on a bunch of makeup and tease up his hair and suddenly he's an "offbeat" character. For a time, it was part of Depp's eccentric charm. But the way 'The Lone Ranger' performed at the box office, we're starting to think this approach is getting a little stale. After all, he has done it A LOT. (And he'll be doing it again in 'Alice in Wonderland 2.') Let's take a gander at just a few of the looks Johnny Depp has adopted over the years. Is it time for Johnny to retire the wigs and garish makeup?
After dislocating her shoulder while filming the music video for her new single, '#Beautiful,' Mariah Carey was left with her arm in a sling. But a diva like Mimi isn't going to walk around with her arm dangling in a canvas sack. Oh, no.
'Pacific Rim' really hit on something. Who doesn't want to see a movie that is essentially monsters vs. robots? Who?? Show us that person, they are lying. The concept is so brilliant we want to see more robots fighting monsters. If movie execs can't come up with any new ideas (which wouldn't be too surprising), here are a few suggestions.
With Independence Day approaching, it's time for us to reflect on what makes our nation great, remember the heroes who have made her what she is, and get rip-roaring wild while fireworks light up the sky above us.
Of course it's hard to imagine anyone other than Jack Nicholson chasing little Danny Torrance through a frozen topiary maze in the 'The Shining,' but that doesn't mean it wasn't almost Robin Williams doing it. Some of your favorite classic horror films came very close to being completely different than the final version.
