Chemistry is widely seen as a high school chore. Why do we have to learn acids and bases, reactions, stoichiometry...when are we going to use this?

When we want to be awesome, that's when. As this video, collecting the chemistry demonstrations of Professor Paul Hunter of Michigan State University, shows us.

Unfortunately, this video is tinged with tragedy: it was posted to Reddit as a celebration of the professor in the video, Paul Hunter. Hunter had a stroke while driving on Wednesday and crashed, killing him. He was 69.

Our sympathies are with the Michigan State community and Professor Hunter's family for their tragic loss. We hope they find some consolation in the joy this video has brought to thousands of people across the world.
