Headed down an escalator at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Dallas-based hairdresser Isis Brantley (who counts neo-soul singer Erykah Badu as a client) was stopped by TSA agents who insisted on checking her ample Afro hairstyle for explosives.

Brantley, who is a noted advocate of natural hair and has been wearing hers this way for 20 years, says she was humiliated by the above-the-head pat-down (which was conducted after she had already passed through a TSA checkpoint) and was in tears a female agent went "digging around in [her] hair."

Though the TSA released a statement indicating that they offered to screen Brantley in a private area, Brantley says that was not the case.
