Sunday night, 'The Simpsons' payed homage to HBO's 'Game of Thrones' with an opening that gave Springfield a Westeros-style makeover. The sequence featured all the maps and gears that mark the beginning of a 'Game of Thrones' episode and also had 'Simpsons'' characters dressed in medieval garb.

As you can see, Homer wouldn't last a day in a Machiavellian fantasy realm because he's just too lazy. Bart, however, would be right at home, provided he gets to bring his skateboard and water gun. Mr. Burns as king? But of course.

The opening ends with a giant couch -- making it the biggest 'Simpsons' "couch gag" yet. If that sinister music has you pining for the real thing, the second season of 'Game of Thrones' begins on April 1st. Check out the original opening sequence below to see how the Springfield version compares.
