MIT Student Invents Real Life ‘Mario Kart’

Science and engineering have given us so many things that mankind once thought were mere fantasy: the gift of flight, fax machines, the toaster. Now, the march of progress continues to this day with this real-life creation of pop-culture transportation.

A mechanical engineering student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology built a miniature go-kart called the "Chibikart." It look crude, but it's actually a very sturdy and zippy electric-powered vehicle. It also looks and moves just like the rides in the various 'Mario Kart' racing games.

10-Year-Old Boy Designs Video Game for His Blind Grandmother

10-year-old Dylan Viale has a very close relationship with his grandmother Sherry, who is blind. The two walk dogs and go to the movies together, and recently went to a Lego event where they helped build a giant Lego Yoda.

But because of her vision impairment, Dylan wasn't able to share with his grandmother his love of video games. So the fifth-grader at Hidden Valley Elementary in Martinez, CA, did something about that -- he developed a video game which blind and sighted people can play together.
