Then: After starring as the comically naïve blond Chrissy Snow on the hit sitcom ‘Three’s Company,’ Suzanne Somers showed her range by playing  smart and high-strung mom Carol Lambert on ‘Step by Step.’ The switch in type may have been necessary legally, as Somers claims that after she left ‘Three’s Company’ due to a contract dispute, the show’s producers said they would sue if she used any of Chrissy Snow’s ditzy characteristics in subsequent roles.

Now: Somers more or less quite acting after ‘Step by Step,’ but she has stayed in the public eye as a self-help author and weight loss expert. Her 2006 book ‘Ageless: The Naked Truth About Bioidentical Hormones’ promoted the use of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, which is controversial in the medical community.

As a breast cancer survivor, she’s also irked the American Cancer Society by pushing alternative cancer treatments, and opposes water fluoridation. Who knew clueless old Chrissy Snow would turn out to be such a sophisticated trouble maker?
