If Herman Cain can do it, why not Stephen Colbert?

On Thursday, 'The Colbert Report' host announced his intentions to explore the possibility of running for president by entering into the South Carolina primary, which will take place on January 21.

According to Colbert:

For over a day now, the people of South Carolina have been crying out for someone who can restore our nation’s former greatness to its current perfection. Well, America, that someone is now! I am proud to announce that I am forming an exploratory committee to lay the groundwork for my possible candidacy for the President of the United States of South Carolina!"

Colbert also transferred control of his Super Pac to fellow Comedy Central funnyman Jon Stewart, which makes it legal for Colbert to run for president.

A recent poll had Colbert, who is from South Carolina, getting five percent of the vote in that state's GOP primary, ahead of legitimate contender Jon Huntsman Jr. Watch Colbert's announcement below.
