Raccoon Rides on Alligator’s Back in Ultimate Field Trip

Well, this is an unusual way to get around.

A photo of a raccoon hitching a ride on the back of an alligator has gone viral.

Richard Jones told WPTV he took the picture this past Sunday near the Oaklawaha River in Florida’s Ocala National Forest. He thinks his son may have frightened the raccoon, which darted to the water and hopped aboard the gator.

Jones summed up the duo’s photo op by saying, “I snapped a lucky picture right when the gator slipped into the water and before the raccoon jumped off and scurried away. Without the context you’d think the raccoon was hitching a ride across the river. Pretty amazing. Definitely the photo of a lifetime.”

Definitely, indeed.
