It was a big day for pooches, pups and pigs yesterday as the young canines competed in Animal Planet’s 8th annual Puppy Bowl. The fluffy, floppy frolickers did not disappoint.

First, we introduced you to the starting pup line-up and counted down the 10 memorable moments in Puppy Bowl history. So how did the puppies do on game day?

It was obvious that the puppies have stepped up their game as this clash of cuteness had tough scoring competition, extreme tail wagging and all kinds of tumbling tackle techniques.

Teaser Highlights

Even the toys were squeaking with anticipation before the game and this brief highlight reel hinted at the cuteness to come.

Pre-Game Puppy Warm-up

Before the play could begin, the puppies had to get warmed up and make sure they were physically ready for the contest that lay ahead.

Most Valuable Puppy

He was one of our puppies to watch, but with a name like Fumble, you would never expect a puppy to achieve the prestigious title of Most Valuable Pup. Even so, the little guy held on to the toys long enough to score points and played awesome puppy defense. Guess whose name should be changed to Champ?

Aberdeen’s Scramble

Fumble wasn’t the only pup to watch who made big plays. Our favorite fuzzy Australian Shepherd Aberdeen also impressed fans with his touchdown scramble. He did so well that he won the at home vote for MVP.

Puppy Bowl History

For the first time ever in the Puppy Bowl, two touchdowns were scored at once. These pups definitely came to play.

Kitty Haltime Show

The kittens also outdid themselves this year. The moves were fresh, the costumes were fluffy and the fans were thrilled. It was a halftime show to remember.

Puppy Bowl VIII and all its floppy puppy sweetness is now just a memory for the history books, but it definitely left us looking forward to Puppy Bowl IX. What was your favorite aww-dorable moment?
