Walter White in ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ and More Pop Culture Dad Swaps
We can’t be the only people who did a double take the first time we saw ‘Breaking Bad.’ Seeing Hal, everyone’s favorite goofy dad from ‘Malcolm in the MIddle,’ as meth-cooker Walter White was quite a shock.
But that’s not the only time that an actor’s previous work colored our first impression of another character they played. Hearing the voice of James Earl Jones as he shows his cub Simba the extent of their kingdom in ‘The Lion King’ always felt like it was going to take a turn towards the “Dark Side,” while one couldn’t help but wonder when Chris Brinkley (Will Arnett) from the now-canceled ‘Up All Night’ would attempt to perform one of his ill-fated “illusions” for baby Amy. And don’t even get us started on Arnold’s softer side in ‘Junior.’
Here we present some of our favorite TV dads as their more sinister (or equally famous) alter egos. If nothing else, these images shed some new light on your favorite TV shows and movies. Because you know the kids from ‘That ’70s Show’ would stay in line a whole lot better if they knew that Clarence Boddicker was upstairs polishing his shotgun.
