Photographer Wilma Hurskainen says she's always been "very attracted by the photograph's ability to cross time and create [a comparison]." So she decided to borrow something from her own past to bring a very special photographic comparison to life.

Hurskainen found pictures that her father had snapped of her and her three sisters when they were kids and then recreated them with the sisters as grown-ups. The effect is striking and touching. According to Hurskainen, it should also make you feel a bit blue.

There is something sad, almost tragic, about looking at old photographs compared to new ones and seeing how people and things have changed or grown up," she writes on her website about the project.

We have to say we're not quite seeing the tragedy in the work. Then again, we could feel differently if it was pictures of our own family. See more photos below and let us know what emotions they stir in you.
