Joey "Jaws" Chestnut of San Jose, CA, once again reigned supreme at Nathan's Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest yesterday, consuming a whopping 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Meanwhile, Sonya "The Black Widow" Thomas of Alexandria, VA, won the women's competition, devouring 45 hot dogs during the time limit. Yum! Who's hungry?

This is Chestnut's sixth straight win at the eating competition, and although he didn't eat his intended target, he's happy with the win nevertheless.

I came here hoping I could do 70, but I am happy with 68. It is a world record after all and I will be back next year to see if I can go one better ... I pushed my body to the absolute limit. I know I did my best. Now I really need a drink to try and rehydrate," said Chestnut, who won the coveted Mustard Belt and $10,000 for his eating prowess.

Meanwhile, Thomas, who weighs only a scant 100 pounds, noshed her way to victory by eating five more hot dogs than she did last year. She won her own champion's belt (in pink, of course) and $10,000 as well.

Meanwhile, RecordSetter held their own hot dog eating competition with world champion eater Takeru Kobayashi. The Crif Dog Classic, named after the popular NYC-based hot dog spot, took place in Brooklyn on July 4th. Kobayashi downed an astonishing 58.5 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes. (Watch a video of the rival competition below.)

Apologies, by the way, if these photos of the Coney Island competition  make you want to swear off hot dogs forever.
