A New Haven, Connecticut man who stumbled upon nearly $100,000 is richer for the experience.

Noah Muroff showed that honesty is indeed the best policy when he returned a desk he bought for $200 after finding $98,000 stashed inside it.

Muroff and his wife purchased the desk on Craigslist and unsuccessfully tried to wedge it through their door, so they were forced to take it apart. That's when Muroff says they found a plastic bag stuffed with money behind the drawers:

We open it up and it's full of cash. And we counted up and there's $98,000 cash sitting in the bag."

Instead of visions of a new car or a high-end vacation dancing in their head, Muroff and his better half quickly decided to return the cash, saying, "Right away my wife and I sort of looked at each other and said we can't keep this money."

The couple called the original desk's owner to let her know what they had found so they could return it. As it turns out, the woman hid an inheritance in the desk and forgot all about it.

Hmm, maybe the woman could use the cash too hire a financial adviser to help her find better places to keep her money.
