The City Creek Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, is an upscale shopping center. How upscale? Their fountain doesn't just spray water: it also shoots fire.

The fountain isn't just some conspicuous consumption: it's designed to get shoppers in the door. City Creek Center is owned by the Mormon Church, which is hoping to revitalize Salt Lake City's downtown with shops like Brooks Brothers and Nordstrom's. Nor is this the only wild water display: the mall has two 18-foot waterfalls and a recreation of City Creek's south fork, where Salt Lake City was founded. It even has a retractable glass roof, the first in a mall in the US.

In other words, show up for the fire fountain and roof, stay for the shopping.
