NBA Rookie Poses as Old Man, Schools Neighborhood Ballers

Kyrie Irving Pepsi
YouTube

Kyrie Irving only recently won the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, but the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard aged a few decades for this Pepsi MAX commercial that’s currently going viral.

In the guise of pretending to shoot a documentary on a basketball player named “Kevin,” Irving dressed up as “Uncle Drew” and showed up at a pick-up game in Bloomfield, NJ.

There, with the cameras rolling, “Kevin” invites “Uncle Drew” to the court as a substitute player. The grey-haired Irving plays the older uncle part well with some sloppy moves and sluggish throws to show his age. But unbeknownst to the other players, the NBA star in Irving suddenly takes over!

YouTube comments, much like how the rest of the web reacts to viral videos these days, are questioning the video’s authenticity. It’s pretty clear from the well-lit court and all the cameras around (not to mention the girls drinking Pepsi) that this whole game was staged for the ad. To which we say…so what? Even if it was staged, it makes for an amusing short film —  and an even better Pepsi Max commercial than the one shown during the Super Bowl.
