Here's a story that may restore your faith in humanity.

A family with an eight-year-old special needs child got a surprise when a complete stranger paid their bill while they were out to dinner last week in China Grove, North Carolina.

Ashley England says her son, Riley, began to get "a little rowdy" and loud by hitting the table, which she knows probably rubbed several customers the wrong way.

A waitress walked over to them and said, "I'll try to do this without crying. But another customer has paid for your bill tonight and wanted me to give you this note."

The note, which has gone viral, read, "God only gives special children to special people."

Ashley said the gesture made her cry, adding, "To have someone do that small act towards us shows that some people absolutely understand what we are going through and how hard it is to face the public sometimes…I felt like out of all the rude negative comments that we are faced with -- these outweigh them. The people who care!"

All we can say is we hope more people keep this story in mind the next time they're out and an unruly child starts acting up.
