Blue Ivy or Ivy Blue? Twitter Can’t Decide What to Call Beyonce and Jay-Z’s Baby
As you’ve probably already figured out by the flood of tweets, married superstars Beyonce and Jay-Z (aka Shawn Carter) reportedly gifted the world with a newborn little girl named Blue Ivy Carter. The most poignant of all the tweets so far came from Lisa Lyons: “is it ivy blue, or blue ivy? so confused..”
Sources say Beyonce gave birth on Saturday, January 7th during a scheduled C-Section at Lennox Hill Hospital in New York. While the couple’s reps have yet to officially confirm the news, music mogul Russell Simmons was among the first to laud the new parents by tweeting, “congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z.”
Fellow luminary Rihanna also gave baby Blue a warm welcome: “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.”
Here are some of the best tweets from around the Twittersphere:
@BrooklynDecker: Oh my gosh Bey had her baby… I hope I hope I hope she is named Brooklyn.. I will tattoo it on my butt if so.
@BrooklynDecker: Ivy Blue Carter. They named her Ivy Blue Carter.. we can no longer be bonded. I’ll go cry myself to sleep now.
@RaminRezaimusic: Congrats to Beyonce and Jay-Z on their daughter Ivy Blue. Since she’ll never have to work a day in her life, they should’ve named her Lay-Z.
@kicksonfire: Some people care about Jay-Z and Beyonce‘s baby more than they care about their own. Lol
@showbiztonight: #greatdebate: @Beyonce Has over 2.5 mil followers and zero tweets! Should her baby announcement be her first tweet ever?
@danecook: Beyonce & JayZ congrats — little girl Ivy — they were smart by giving her that go by first name only moniker.
