Though he's known for his controversial rants, former Fox News firebrand Glenn Beck showed a softer side yesterday on the 'Today' show. Beck cried during an interview with Kathie Lee Gifford as he discussed his traumatic childhood and his mother's possible suicide.

Beck and Gifford covered a variety of topics, including his new book, and his decision to leave Fox News. But it was the discussion his abusive childhood and his mother's unexplained drowning that brought on the waterworks.

Whatever your politics, it's hard not to feel at least a little sympathy for Beck. Watch the interview below and see if you agree.
