See the Cast of ‘Felicity’ Then and Now
The college drama ‘Felicity’ was J.J. Abrams’ first foray into television. The show starred Keri Russell as the show’s titular character, and it was a hit for the WB among young viewers when it debuted in 1998.
Then ratings fell in 1999, a dip many critics and network executives attributed to Russell’s new much shorter hairstyle. Eventually Russell’s golden locks grew back and the ratings rebounded, allowing the show to last for four seasons — one for each year of college.
See what Russell and the rest of the cast of ‘Felicity’ are up to these days.
Keri Russell, Felicity Porter
Then: As Felicity Porter, Keri Russell was the protagonist and title character. Before her stint at the fictional University of New York, Russell had been a Mousketeer and was the star of the short-lived nighttime soap ‘Malibu Shores.’ In 2006, she was in ‘Mission: Impossible III.’
Now: Russell is currently earning acclaim playing against type as a deadly undercover Russian spy in the cold war drama 'The Americans.' It is her second attempt at a TV comeback after the sitcom ‘Running Wilde’ was cancelled after a season. Russell has two children with her husband, carpenter Shane Deary.
Scott Foley, Noel Crane
Then: Scott Foley was Noel Crane, Felicity’s RA who immediately takes a shine to the freshman. He had been best known for playing recurring character Cliff Harris on 'Dawson’s Creek.' During his run on ‘Felicity’ he was also in the horror films 'Scream 3' and 'Down Below.'
Now: Between 2006 and 2009, Foley was a series regular on 'The Unit.' Lately the 40-year-old has been playing recurring characters on 'Grey's Anatomy,' 'True Blood' and 'Scandal.' He is married to actress Marika Dominczyk.
Scott Speedman, Ben Covington
Then: Speedman played Ben Covington, the high school crush who leads Felicity to New York. Speedman (who was a high school swimmer in real life too) went on to star in the ‘Underworld’ franchise.
Now: Other than 'Underworld,' Speedman's movie career never really took off. The 37-year-old just returned to TV for the first time since 'Felicity' with a starring role in the Navy SEALS drama 'Last Resort.'
Tangi Miller, Elena Tyler
Then: You probably remember Elena Tyler, Felicity's dorm mate and lab partner, who was played by Tangi Miller. It was by far Miller’s most prominent role to date.
Now: Miller is one of the stars of the upcoming rom--com 'The Love Section.' The 43-year-old has also been producing movies lately, including 'My Girlfriend’s Back' and 'Guardian of Eden.'
Greg Grunberg, Sean Blumberg
Then: While he didn’t actually go to UNY, Grunberg’s Sean Blumberg character became intertwined in the lives of the students. A childhood friend of J.J. Abrams, he guest-starred on shows like 'Murphy Brown' and 'Baywatch,' but 'Felicity' was his big break. In 2001, he joined the cast of 'Alias,' another Abrams series.
Now: Grunberg scored his most famous role, as Matt Parkman on 'Heroes,' without the help of his lifelong buddy. Since that show ended, Grunberg starred in the short-lived comedy 'Love Bites' and currently plays recurring character Dale Locklin on 'The Client List.'
Amanda Foreman , Meghan Rotundi
Then: Amanda Foreman was Meghan Rotundi, Felicity's initially mismatched Wiccan roommate. Previously she had small roles in the movies 'Sliver' and 'Forever Young.'
Now: Foreman has bounced around TV over the past decade without ever really grabbing the kind of regular role she had on 'Felicity.' She has been on shows like 'Private Practice,' 'House M.D.' and 'Criminal Minds' and currently plays recurring character Suze Lessing on 'Parenthood.'
Amy Jo Johnson, Julie Emrick
Then: Felicity's guitar-playing friend Julie Emrick was played by Amy Jo Johnson. Although Johnson has had much TV success, to many people she will always be known as the Pink Power Ranger, a role she played between 1993 and 1995.
Now: Johnson currently stars in the critically acclaimed Canadian procedural drama 'Flash Point.' The 42-year-old first honed her fictional police skills as one of the stars of the mid-00s drama 'The Division.'
Ian Gomez, Javier Clemente Quitata
Then: Javier, the boss at the coffee shop where Felicity and Ben worked, was portrayed by Ian Gomez. During his run on 'Felicity,' Gomez was also a series regular on the sitcom ‘Norm.’
Now: Gomez has played Andy Torres on ‘Cougartown’ since 2009. He’s married to writer/actress Nia Vardalos, who based the John Corbett character in 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' on him.
Rob Benedict, Richard Coad
Then: Benedict played Richard Coad, a devious college student who wasn't above blackmail. It was the first big role for Coad, who made his screen debut on an episode of 'Beverly Hills, 90210.'
Now: Benedict has been busy as a guest star, appearing on '1600 Penn,' 'The Mentalist,' 'Touch,' 'NCIS: Los Angeles,' 'Psych' and ‘Shameless’ over the past year. In 2011, he wrote and starred in the short film 'Lifetripper.'
Donald Faison, Tracy
Then: Faison played Elana's fun-loving boyfriend Tracy on the last few seasons of 'Felicity.' At that point he was best known for playing Murray in the movie 'Clueless' and the TV spin-off that followed.
Now: In 2001 Faison started his run as Dr. Turk on 'Scrubs,' which lasted until 2010. He currently stars on the sitcom 'The Exes' and will have a role in the upcoming movie 'Kick-Ass 2.'
