As further proof there's no more faithful animal than a trusty pooch, a missing farm dog in Ghana actually spent a night under a bridge protecting an abandoned two-week-old infant. Good dog!

According to officials, the dog ran off and was found a day later curled around the infant in the town of Winkongo. The baby had an infected umbilical cord, but was otherwise in good health. Since then, the tyke has been vaccinated and is currently in the custody of a local health directorate.

It's unclear why the baby's mother abandoned him, but Madam Rosemary Azure, Director of Health for the Talensi-Nabdam District, speculates that his parents may have been teenagers. Either way, the little boy certainly found a better parent in this heroic canine.
