Now that 'The Avengers' has done most of its box office damage, 'The Dark Knight Rises' has moved into the spotlight as the summer's most anticipated movie. During The MTV Movie Awards Sunday night Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gary Oldman, who will all star in director Christopher Nolan's final Batman movie, took a look back at moments from the trilogy's first two films.

Bale showed some unscripted emotion during the exercise, choking up after seeing footage of the late Heath Ledger, who won a posthumous Academy Award for his portrayal of the Joker in 2008's 'The Dark Knight.' Then, after that bit of nostalgia, Christopher Nolan took the stage and introduced previously unseen footage from 'The Dark Knight Rises,' which hits theaters July 20th. Check it out.

The trailer starts with Gotham city cop John Blake (Gordon-Levitt) integrating Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Anne Hathaway). But as the clip progresses, it becomes clear that another newcomer to the series -- the villainous Bane, played by Thomas Hardy -- is going to be the the film's breakout character.

In fact, from the looks of the latest action, the mysterious masked man will present the Caped Crusader with the biggest cinematic challenge he's ever faced.

How excited are you for 'The Dark Knight Rises?'
